AI lead magnet generator for B2B: ebooks and guides as PDF

An AI lead magnet generator for B2B should do more than write. It should draft the ebook or guide from your own material, so it says something a buyer cannot get from a search, render it as a branded PDF, and connect to the gate: a landing page, a form, delivery of the file and routing of the lead to your CRM. Most tools cover one or two of those links. Pick the format by funnel stage, then pick tools for each link.

A lead magnet is a trade: a buyer's contact details for something useful. In B2B, the buyer is usually an expert in their own job, so "useful" means specific. This guide covers which formats work, what the generator must do, and where each tool fits. Nagent's long-form lead, FOLIO, is one of the options, in its own clearly marked section near the end.

Which B2B lead magnet formats work as a PDF?

Match the format to where the buyer is:

Early stage: the buyer is naming the problem

  • Checklist or one-page guide. Fast to consume, easy to share internally. Works well from blog posts.

  • Industry report. Your data or survey, with a clear thesis. Hard to fake, so it builds authority.

Middle stage: the buyer is choosing an approach

  • Playbook or how-to guide. Step-by-step method with frameworks and examples. The strongest all-round B2B lead magnet because it teaches.

  • Ebook on a single problem. Five to ten chapters, one argument.

Late stage: the buyer is choosing a vendor

  • Buyer's guide or comparison. Criteria, questions to ask, honest trade-offs. Converts from pricing and comparison pages.

  • Case study collection. Proof from customers like them, with permission.

Copy.ai's guide to lead magnets also suggests whitepapers for technical audiences and cheat sheets for busy executives (Copy.ai). The common thread: one audience, one problem, one promise on the cover.

What should an AI lead magnet generator actually do?

Use this as a requirements checklist when you trial tools:

  1. Write from your sources. Upload product docs, research, case studies and transcripts, and restrict the writing to them. Generic content will not earn a form fill from an expert buyer.

  2. Plan before drafting. An outline you approve, with each section mapped to a source.

  3. Hold your brand. Voice, banned claims, mandatory disclaimers, colours and logo, across every page.

  4. Render a real PDF. Cover, contents, headings, visuals. Not a text file you hand to a designer.

  5. Keep an editable copy. DOCX or similar, so the next edition is an edit, not a rebuild.

  6. Connect to the gate. A landing page with a form, file delivery after the form, and the lead in your CRM with the asset name attached.

  7. Show a cost before running. Long documents cost more; you should see the estimate first.

  8. Wait for a person. Nothing should publish or send to prospects without a named approver.

Which tools cover which links?

No single well-known writing or design tool covers all eight. Here is where the five most-compared tools sit, from their own sites, checked 24 October 2026:

Jasper

  • Covers: 1 to 3. Its ebook creator workflow uses Knowledge assets and Brand Voice, an Ebook Outline Agent and chapter drafting in Canvas; it also suggests repurposing the ebook into nurture emails.

  • Pricing: Pro $69 per seat a month, or $59 billed yearly; Business custom (pricing).

  • Gap: no designed PDF described; gating is outside the tool.

Gamma

  • Covers: 4 and 5, partly 1. It generates documents from a prompt or an uploaded Word doc, PDF or Google Doc and exports to PDF, PNG or PowerPoint (its help centre says Word export is not supported on any plan, checked 24 October 2026); it can also publish to custom domains on paid plans (documents, pricing).

  • Gap: design-first; form capture and CRM routing are not described on those pages.

Canva

  • Covers: 3 and 4. Templates, Brand Kits and Canva AI writing help in Canva Docs (ebook maker, Help Center).

  • Pricing: Pro US$144 a year for one person; Business US$250 a year per person (pricing).

  • Gap: you bring the content and the gate.

Writesonic

  • Covers: 1 and 3 for web articles. Its grounded mode writes from your PDFs, DOCX files and URLs at "3,000 to 8,000 words" (AI Article Writer).

  • Gap: articles go to a CMS; no PDF lead magnet format.

Copy.ai

  • Covers: GTM workflows around the asset, such as follow-up copy; its site positions it as a go-to-market AI platform (Copy.ai).

  • Pricing: Chat $29 a month for 5 seats; Growth $1,000 a month billed annually (pricing).

  • Gap: no ebook or PDF workflow on its site.

How do you brief the generator so the magnet is specific?

The brief decides whether the result reads like your company or like everyone's. Include:

  • One reader. Role, company size and the moment they are in ("a RevOps lead rebuilding territory plans before the new fiscal year").

  • One promise. The single thing the reader will be able to do after reading. It becomes the title.

  • The sources, named. Which documents to use, and which to ignore because they are out of date.

  • What only you know. Your data, your method, your customer patterns. Ask for at least one of these per chapter.

  • Banned claims and required lines. Competitor names, guarantees, regulated phrases, disclaimers.

  • The next step. What the reader should do after the last page: a demo, a calculator, a related guide.

How should you gate a B2B PDF?

The gate decides whether the magnet produces pipeline or just a download count:

  • Ask for what sales will use. Work email and company are usually enough. Each extra field lowers completions; add role only if routing depends on it.

  • Show the value on the page. Contents, two key takeaways and who it is for. A buyer should know what they get before typing.

  • Deliver by email as well as on screen. A delivery email confirms the address is real and gives the reader a second copy.

  • Tag the lead with the asset. Sales needs to know what the person downloaded to have a relevant conversation.

  • Keep consent clear. State what you will send and let people opt out. Requirements vary by country; check yours.

  • Consider a partial gate. Publish the first chapter openly and gate the rest. It lets search engines and AI answer engines see what the asset is about.

What goes wrong with AI-generated lead magnets?

  • Generic content. Written from the model's general knowledge, so it says what every competitor's ebook says. Cost: downloads from students and competitors, not buyers.

  • Wrong facts in a branded PDF. Cost: credibility with the exact audience you want.

  • A great PDF behind a broken gate. Form not wired to the CRM, delivery email in spam. Cost: leads lost silently.

  • No owner for follow-up. Downloads sit in a list. Cost: the whole investment.

  • No refresh plan. Year-old numbers in a "2026 guide". Cost: a trust hit at the first page.

Where does Nagent fit?

We make Nagent. Its long-form lead, FOLIO, covers links 1 to 5, 7 and 8 of the checklist above, and the rest of Nagent's Content team covers the landing page.

  • From your sources: FOLIO writes from your own workspace: the Knowledge Hub documents a person picks lead, and it also searches the rest of your Knowledge Hub and your workspace facts sheet; before each chapter, paragraphs are ranked against it and the Writer drafts against those.

  • Formats: book types include Operator's Playbook, Research Report, Thought Leadership, Case Study Collection, Listicle and Comparison. A comparison names two to six subjects, and every factual claim in it is cited to a numbered source.

  • Brand: the brand guideline's banned claims, banned visuals and mandatory items go ahead of its tone.

  • PDF and DOCX: rendered with up to three illustrations per chapter.

  • Cost first: the estimate shows before you submit. A 12-chapter illustrated book is about 1,570 credits; see pricing.

  • The gate: on the finished book, a person presses Promote. The Publisher files the PDF as a knowledge asset and, when asked, as a gated lead magnet with a "Get" call to action and a delivery email.

  • The landing page: LANDON, on CREA's Content team, drafts landing pages from a brief. A page needs a Lead form section before it can go live, leads land in Nagent's own Leads, and a person presses Publish (decks and landing pages).

What it does not do: Nagent does not post your lead magnet to social media, buy ads for it or send it to a list on its own. Every customer-facing step waits for a person until an agent has earned more autonomy. The FOLIO page shows the six stage agents.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best lead magnet formats for B2B?

Playbooks and how-to guides work across the funnel because they teach. Industry reports build authority early; buyer's guides and case study collections convert late. Pick one audience and one problem per asset.

Should a B2B lead magnet be gated or ungated?

Gate assets that are specific and costly to produce, such as reports and playbooks. Consider a partial gate, with the first chapter open, so search engines and AI answer engines can see the content.

What should a lead magnet form ask for?

Work email and company are usually enough. Add role or company size only if your routing or scoring depends on it, because each extra field lowers completions.

Is a PDF still the right format for a lead magnet?

For ebooks, guides and reports, yes. It keeps your layout, prints well, and is what delivery emails and sales follow-ups expect. Keep an editable version for the next edition.
