Top agentic AI use cases for manufacturing in H2 2026

Technical buyers now research with generative AI, while the rules on green claims, certification marks, export screening and prospect data changed on fixed dates in 2025 and 2026. These nine use cases respond to what changed.

Which agentic AI use cases should manufacturers prioritise in H2 2026?Manufacturers should prioritise agentic work tied to what changed: datasheets and spec pages that AI answer engines quote correctly, a green claims audit under the EU rules that apply from 27 September 2026, BIS certification wording after India’s QCO withdrawals, restricted-party screening on export prospecting, and a source and consent record before India’s DPDP Rules take full effect.

Datasheets and spec pages that AI answer engines quote correctly

The 2026 State of Marketing to Engineers report found that 69% of technical buyers use generative AI during purchasing, yet only 6% say the AI summary is usually enough. DRIS tracks how ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Mode describe your products for specification queries and fixes the pages and datasheets they draw on, so answers quote released values and send engineers to the source.

Every week, DRIS runs the agreed specification and selection prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Mode. One answer quotes a load rating from a datasheet revision the company withdrew. DRIS traces the old PDF to a distributor site and drafts fixes: a plain HTML specification table, a redirect and a corrected FAQ. The digital marketing manager approves each change against the released datasheet. Wrong values in AI answers are now tracked and fixed.

Green claims audit under the EU rules that apply from September 2026

The EU Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive applies from 27 September 2026 and, in consumer-facing marketing, restricts generic claims such as “green” or “sustainable” and bans sustainability labels not based on a certification scheme or set by a public authority. The separate Green Claims Directive stalled after the Commission said in June 2025 it intended to withdraw it. FOLIO audits every environmental claim and the evidence behind it.

Now that the EU rules apply, FOLIO crawls the website, datasheets, packaging copy and distributor kits and lists every environmental claim, from recyclable to low carbon. For each one it asks for the evidence: a certified label, a verified declaration or test data. CREA drafts specific replacements for anything generic. The sustainability marketing lead and legal approve each rewrite before it goes live, and the claims register shows the evidence behind every claim that remains.

Claim change notices to distributors under the CMA’s supply chain guidance

In January 2026 the UK CMA published guidance on green claims across the supply chain: manufacturers that originate a claim should hold the evidence and tell retailers and brands when something changes, such as a raw material. LIPI watches for product changes that affect a claim and drafts the notice to every distributor and retailer carrying it.

Purchasing switches the backing material on one flooring range, and the recycled content statement on the datasheet no longer holds. LIPI finds every distributor, retailer and marketplace listing that repeats the claim and drafts a notice with the corrected wording and the evidence. The product marketing manager approves the notice and new wording before it sends. Partners update their pages, and the claims register records who was told and when.

BIS certification wording checked after India’s QCO withdrawals

In November 2025 India’s Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals withdrew Quality Control Orders for polymers, polyester inputs and other materials, so manufacturers no longer need a BIS licence or the Standard Mark for those products. CREA checks where listings, datasheets and dealer kits state BIS certification or show the mark, and keeps each claim in line with the licence actually held.

After the polymer QCOs are withdrawn, the product team asks whether the BIS line on its IndiaMART listings still holds. CREA compares every listing, datasheet and dealer kit with the licence register, finds grades described as mandatorily certified, and drafts corrected wording that states the licence held, or none. The marketing manager and quality manager approve the wording before it changes, so listings stay accurate while customers ask what the change means.

Export prospecting with restricted-party screening built in

Entering an export market means researching distributors and end users in new countries, and the screening rules moved in 2025: the US Affiliates Rule of September 2025 extended Entity List restrictions to companies at least 50% owned by listed parties, then was suspended for one year from 10 November 2025. NORA screens every prospect and its known owners before any outreach is drafted.

The company is entering a new region and needs distributors and end users there. NORA researches candidates from trade directories, import records and exhibitor lists, then checks each company and its known owners against the Consolidated Screening List and the EU and UK sanctions lists. Possible matches and unclear end uses go to the export compliance officer, who clears the list before SERA drafts introductions for the export sales manager.

Embedded emissions answers for EU buyers under CBAM

Since 1 January 2026, EU importers of cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity and hydrogen must buy and surrender CBAM certificates for the embedded emissions of what they import, so they need emissions data from suppliers outside the EU. FOLIO builds an approved answer pack from verified plant data and drafts the response for each buyer.

An EU distributor’s RFQ now asks for embedded emissions per product and the verification behind them. FOLIO pulls the verified data from the sustainability team’s records, builds the answer for each product and flags any product without verified figures. CREA drafts a short buyer guide explaining the numbers. The sustainability lead approves every figure and the guide before it goes to the buyer, and sales stops improvising emissions answers by email.

Answering buyer agents, procurement portals and structured RFQs

Forrester predicts that in 2026 at least one in five B2B sellers will face agent-led quote negotiations, and reports that 61% of purchase influencers said their organisation has or will use a private generative AI engine for purchasing. DEXA, our deal execution teammate, is coming soon. It will answer structured RFQs and supplier questionnaires from approved data and keep terms inside the bands sales leadership sets.

A structured RFQ and a supplier qualification questionnaire arrive through an OEM’s SAP Ariba portal on the same morning. DEXA, coming soon, will classify each line, pull specifications, certificates and lead times from approved records, and keep prices inside the bands sales leadership has set. Questions without an approved answer will go to their owners. The sales operations manager approves the response and pricing before submission, and final answers return to the library.

A product selector chat that says it is AI and qualifies enquiries

From 2 August 2026, Article 50 of the EU AI Act requires that people are told when they are interacting with an AI system unless it is obvious. Convexa answers selection and compatibility questions on product pages from released datasheets, says in its first message that it is AI, and hands technical enquiries to an applications engineer with the conversation attached.

Late in the evening, a design engineer opens chat on a cylinder product page and asks which bore size suits a load. Convexa says in its first message that it is AI, answers from the released datasheets and asks the agreed questions on application, quantity and timeline. Qualified enquiries get a call slot with an applications engineer. The head of sales approves the answer library and handoff rules, and transcripts arrive in the CRM.

Source and consent records for Indian prospect data under the DPDP Rules

MeitY notified the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules on 13 November 2025, with consent manager provisions from 13 November 2026 and most notice and consent duties from 13 May 2027. CORA keeps one record of where each contact came from, whether an IndiaMART enquiry or a trade show scan, what they were told and what they agreed to, and keeps every tool in step.

Contacts reach the CRM from IndiaMART enquiries, trade show scans, website forms and distributor referrals, each with a different notice. Each night, CORA reconciles them into one record per contact showing source, notice and purpose, and flags contacts used for something they never agreed to. It proposes suppressions across the email platform and sales sequences. The marketing operations manager approves each suppression and erasure before CORA applies it.

Frequently asked questions

What changed for manufacturing marketing in 2025 and 2026?

The 2026 State of Marketing to Engineers report found 69% of technical buyers use generative AI while purchasing. The EU’s green claims rules for consumer marketing apply from 27 September 2026, the UK CMA issued supply chain guidance in January 2026, India withdrew a set of polymer and chemical QCOs in November 2025, and India’s DPDP Rules set dates in November 2026 and May 2027.

Is the EU Green Claims Directive in force?

No. The Commission announced in June 2025 that it intended to withdraw the proposal and the planned trilogue was cancelled, so it has not been adopted. The Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive is separate law and applies from 27 September 2026, restricting generic environmental claims and uncertified sustainability labels in consumer-facing marketing.

Do green claims rules apply to B2B manufacturers?

The EU directive covers consumer-facing marketing, but a manufacturer’s claims often reach consumers through distributors, retailers and packaging. The UK CMA’s January 2026 guidance says businesses that originate or repeat a claim share responsibility for it. The safest course is to hold evidence for every claim, whoever reads it.

Which of these should we start first?

Start with the work that carries dates or legal exposure: the green claims audit, certification wording on Indian listings and screening on export prospecting. Run answer-engine tracking alongside, because you cannot fix answers you are not measuring. Buyer-agent responses will run on DEXA, our deal execution teammate, which is coming soon.
