whitepaper · FINO by Nagent · October 2026

AI money advisors for banks

What banks and fintechs are deploying, what fails, and how FINO by Nagent puts one advisor in front of specialist agents, under an autonomy level each customer sets. With a ten-question checklist to put to any vendor, including us.

  • The shift
  • What works and what fails
  • From chatbot to agentic advisor
  • The autonomy ladder as the control model
  • Six scenarios
  • Integration and customisation
  • A deployment checklist
  • Methodology and sources

What should a bank ask before deploying an AI money advisor?

Whether customer data reaches the model, which actions it can take and with what confirmation, how advice is framed, what the audit trail records, and what evidence of resolution exists. The whitepaper sets out ten such questions from 55 public deployments and regulator texts, and shows how FINO by Nagent answers each.

what we found

Assistants that act, and the record they leave. Bank assistants launched since 2024 read the customer's own accounts and, more and more, act on them. We tracked the public record to see what they do, what goes wrong and what a bank should insist on.

what is inside

Evidence first, then the design. Who it is for: CIOs, heads of digital and retail banking, product and innovation leads, and risk and compliance teams at banks and fintechs.

The shift What banks and fintechs have deployed since 2024, region by region, and what the assistants can now do in the conversation.
What works and what fails What the successful programmes share, and the failure modes: reversed staffing cuts, doom loops, liability for a wrong answer, avatar pilots that never scaled.
From chatbot to agentic advisor One face in front of specialist agents, and one customer question followed end to end.
The autonomy ladder as the control model Five levels set per customer, how they are checked at the moment of action, and why a ladder maps onto controls banks already run.
Six scenarios Salary day, a bill that paid itself, a loan question in Hindi, a portfolio check-in by voice, a balance transfer and a budget in dollars.
Integration and customisation How a bank adds agents it builds itself and sets the rules: per-segment ceilings, unattended actions, step-up codes, checks before an agent goes live, and what is still on the roadmap.
A deployment checklist Ten questions banks ask any vendor before buying an AI advisor, with where FINO stands on each, and a practical rollout order.
Methodology and sources How the tracker was built and counted, its limits, and the sources behind every figure.

what FINO does

One advisor in your bank's name, under rules you set. FINO is the AI money advisor the paper describes. Each part below says how far it has got, so nothing here reads as further along than it is.

in the live demoOne face, four specialistsAn avatar the customer talks to, or text only. Behind it a Finance Manager, a Wealth Advisor, a Credit Advisor, and an Audit & Compliance agent that never chats and records every turn.
in the live demoAn autonomy level each customer setsFive levels, from the first, which only informs, to the fifth, which can turn on autopay, start SIPs and set up mandates within the customer’s limit. Checked when FINO acts, not only in what it says. Credit applications, balance transfers, one-time investments and redemptions ask first at every level.
built, tested on stagingRules the bank controlsThe highest level each customer segment may use, which money actions may run unattended and from which level, and what each agent may propose. Loosening a rule needs an emailed code; tightening takes effect at once. Every change is versioned.
built, tested on stagingAgents your bank buildsA bank builds its own agents in its private copy of Nagent and connects its systems through an OpenAPI description or an MCP server. Its agents propose; FINO shows the card and the customer taps. They see only the customer details they were granted.
built, tested on stagingChecks before an agent goes liveAgents move from sandbox to staging to live, with nine automated checks before each step. Only a bank admin puts an agent live, and the Activity tab keeps the record.

Frequently asked questions

Who is the whitepaper for?

CIOs, heads of digital and retail banking, product and innovation leads, and risk and compliance teams at banks and fintechs. It assumes no technical background.

Is it a product brochure?

No. Most of the paper is market evidence and failure modes from public sources. FINO appears in the design chapters and in the checklist, where each answer says where FINO stands today, including what is not built yet.

Does it name FINO customers or usage figures?

No. FINO has no live bank deployment to quote, so the paper reports none. Figures from other banks are marked as self-reported or vendor-reported where that is their source.

Can I see FINO before reading?

Yes. The live demo at fino.nagent.ai opens with a work email, and you can book a walk-through with the team.

What happens after I download it?

A download page opens straight away and the same link arrives by email. We may follow up once. You can unsubscribe in one click.
