How much does an AI ebook generator cost for a 50 person company?

For a 50 person company, an AI ebook generator typically costs between nothing and about $6,000 a year in software, because only the three to five people who make content need seats. Canva runs US$144 to US$250 per person a year, Jasper $59 to $69 per seat a month, and Writesonic $79 to $399 a month. GTM platforms such as Copy.ai's Growth tier start at $12,000 a year. The bigger cost is people's time for writing, review and design.
Every price below was checked on the vendor's own site on 24 October 2026. Prices change; confirm before you buy. Nagent's long-form lead, FOLIO, is priced in credits rather than seats; it has its own clearly marked section below.
Who in a 50 person company actually needs a seat?
Not 50 people. In most B2B companies of this size, ebook work touches a handful of roles:
Content or marketing lead: owns the brief and the outline.
Product marketer: supplies positioning and checks claims.
Designer, if you have one: layout, cover, diagrams.
Subject expert (sales engineer, founder, analyst): reviews accuracy.
Sales or RevOps: uses the finished asset, rarely the tool.
So budget for two to five editor seats. Reviewers often need only view or comment access; check whether the tool charges for them.
What do the main tools cost?
Jasper (pricing, checked 24 October 2026)
What it is: a marketing agent workspace with an ebook creator workflow.
Pricing model: per seat. Pro is $69 per seat a month billed monthly, or $59 billed yearly. Business is custom.
For a 50 person company: three Pro seats come to $177 a month billed yearly, or $2,124 a year.
Limitation: Pro includes 5 Knowledge assets and 2 Brand Voices; heavier source libraries push you toward Business.
Copy.ai (pricing, checked 24 October 2026)
What it is: a go-to-market AI platform built on workflows.
Pricing model: Chat is $29 a month, or $24 billed annually, for 5 seats. Growth is $1,000 a month billed annually for 75 seats and 20K workflow credits; Expansion is $2,000 and Scale $3,000 a month billed annually. Enterprise is custom.
For a 50 person company: Chat covers five users for $288 a year. Growth, at $12,000 a year, only makes sense if you are automating GTM work beyond ebooks.
Limitation: no ebook workflow on its site; chapters are built by hand in chat or custom workflows.
Writesonic (pricing, checked 24 October 2026)
What it is: an AI search growth platform with a grounded AI Article Writer.
Pricing model: per plan, billed annually: Starter $79 a month (15 articles, 1 user), Basic $199 (25 articles, 2 users), Growth $399 (50 articles, 3 users). Extra users on Basic and Growth are $50 per user a month. Enterprise is custom.
For a 50 person company: $948 to $4,788 a year.
Limitation: it writes articles, not chaptered books, so an ebook is several articles assembled and designed elsewhere.
Canva (pricing, US page, checked 24 October 2026)
What it is: a design platform with ebook templates and Canva AI writing help.
Pricing model: Free at US$0; Pro US$144 a year for one person; Business US$250 a year per person; Enterprise by quote.
For a 50 person company: three Business seats are US$750 a year.
Limitation: it lays out and polishes; it does not write a chaptered book from your source files.
Gamma (pricing, checked 24 October 2026)
What it is: an AI document, presentation and website generator that imports PDF and PPTX and exports PDF, PPTX and more.
Pricing model: per seat, with AI credits. Viewed from India the page showed prices in Indian rupees only: Plus ₹400, Pro ₹950 and Ultra ₹7,833.25 per seat a month billed annually, and Business ₹3,482 per seat a month billed annually. Dollar prices were not displayed to us, so check the page from your own region.
Limitation: design-led output; the Free plan creates up to 10 slides per prompt and Plus up to 100, which caps how much one generation covers.
What does the software line add up to?
Three realistic stacks for a 50 person B2B company with a three-person content team:
Lean: Canva Pro for one designer plus a chat assistant you already pay for. About US$144 a year in new spend. High people time.
Writing plus design: three Jasper Pro seats and three Canva Business seats. About $2,124 plus US$750, so roughly $2,900 a year.
Grounded articles plus design: Writesonic Growth plus three Canva Business seats. About $4,788 plus US$750, so roughly $5,500 a year, and it includes AI search tracking.
All three still need someone to plan the book, fact-check it and set up the gate.
What are the hidden costs?
The subscription is usually the smallest line. Budget for:
Writing and editing time. Prompt-only tools produce fast drafts that need heavy rewriting. Estimate hours per chapter during your trial and multiply by your loaded hourly cost.
Fact-checking. Every figure checked against a source. Tools that write only from your documents shorten this; none remove it. Our guide to keeping AI-written ebooks sourced has a checklist for this step.
Design time. If the tool exports plain text, layout per book is a real cost, internal or freelance.
Source preparation. Scanned PDFs, image-only decks and old file formats need converting before any AI can read them.
Gating and follow-up. A landing page, a form, a delivery email and CRM routing. Most teams already pay for these; if not, add them.
Overage. Usage beyond plan limits: extra articles, extra credits, extra seats.
A simple formula: total cost per ebook = (annual software ÷ ebooks per year) + (hours × loaded hourly cost). Run it for two tools during a trial and the cheaper subscription often loses.
Is per-seat or usage-based pricing cheaper?
It depends on volume and team shape:
Per seat (Jasper, Canva, Gamma) is predictable and cheap for a small team producing many assets.
Per output (Writesonic's article counts) is easy to map to a content plan, but caps volume.
Credits or usage suits teams whose output varies month to month, and costs scale with the work rather than headcount. Ask for an estimate per book before you run one.
Two questions to ask any vendor: what does one 10 to 12 chapter book cost us end to end, and what happens when we exceed the plan mid-month?
Where does Nagent fit, and how is it priced?
We make Nagent. Its long-form lead, FOLIO, writes a chaptered, illustrated book from Knowledge Hub documents you choose and renders PDF and DOCX; a person presses Promote before it becomes a knowledge asset or gated lead magnet.
Nagent prices work in credits rather than per tool seat. Plans and their allowances are on the pricing page; the relevant shapes for this question:
Team plan: 10 seats and 6,000 credits a month, for one team.
Business plan: 50 seats and 30,000 pooled credits, with every team. That matches a 50 person company that wants everyone able to view and approve work.
What a book draws: a 12-chapter illustrated book is estimated at about 1,570 credits. Most of that is illustrations; the same book without them is roughly 230 credits. For scale, Nagent's pricing page puts an AEO page audit at about 10 credits and a rendered video at about 700. FOLIO shows its estimate before you submit, and it has its own long-form budget, so a book stops at the chapter or image that would cross the cap instead of overspending.
What it does not cover: FOLIO is not a design editor, it does not read scanned PDFs or images inside files, and it does not distribute the book. The credits also fund the rest of the team you run on Nagent, so compare it against a whole stack, not one writing tool.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a free AI ebook generator?
Canva Free costs nothing and includes up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses; Gamma's Free plan gives 400 credits at sign-up. Both are fine for a first test. For B2B lead magnets built from your own material, expect to pay for more usage and spend more time on writing.
Do we need a seat for every employee?
No. Budget editor seats for the people who plan, write and design, usually two to five. Check whether reviewers and approvers need paid seats on the tool you choose.
What hidden costs should we budget for with AI ebooks?
Writing and editing time, fact-checking, design, preparing source files, the landing page and follow-up emails, and overage beyond plan limits. These usually exceed the subscription.
How many ebooks can a small team produce per quarter with AI?
That is set by review capacity more than by the tool. Track hours per book in your first two runs and plan from that; a good tool cuts drafting time, while fact-checking and approvals still need people.
