How do I set up NIA to optimise Google Ads and Meta ads campaigns?

To set up NIA, install Nagent's Marketing team, connect your Google Ads account through Google's consent screen and sync it, then connect your Meta ad account and set its daily and monthly hard spend cap. Confirm a conversion action is enabled, ask NIA how the last 14 days went to check she sees the right data, and run your first diagnosis. Every change she proposes then waits on Actions for a person to approve. Meta ads support is in Beta.

What do you need before you start?

Gather these first. Most stalled setups are missing one of them.

  • A plan that includes the Marketing team. NIA is not a separate product. She is the AI performance marketing lead on the Marketing team, led by MIRA, the AI Marketing Chief of Staff, and arrives when your workspace installs that team. The pricing page shows which teams each plan includes.

  • Admin access to the ad accounts. You need to be able to approve Google's consent screen for the Google Ads account, and to authorise Meta for the ad account, or create a System User token in Meta Business Manager.

  • Working conversion tracking. On Google Ads, for a leads or sales objective, NIA will not build a campaign without an enabled conversion action.

  • Your spend cap. Decide the daily and monthly ceiling for the Meta ad account before you connect it.

  • Your approvers. Agree who on the team approves changes that spend money. On Meta, every change that commits money needs a named approver's click.

How do you connect Google Ads?

  1. In Nagent, open the Google Ads page under integrations.

  2. On the Overview tab, choose to connect an account. Google's consent screen opens.

  3. Pick the account to connect. You do not need to look up an account ID.

  4. Run a sync, so the latest campaigns, ad groups, ads, keywords, search terms and metrics are stored.

If the page says Google Ads is not available on your deployment, contact Nagent support; it has to be enabled for the service before any workspace can connect.

Once synced, the Google Ads surface shows tabs for Overview, Campaigns, Agent optimise, Metrics, Ad groups, Ads, Keywords and Search terms, plus NIA's cross-channel reallocation recommendation.

How do you connect Meta ads and set the spend cap?

  1. Open the Meta Ads page under integrations.

  2. Enter the numeric ad account ID, without the "act_" prefix.

  3. Connect with OAuth, which opens Facebook's consent screen, or with Token, pasting a non-expiring System User token from Business Manager. The page recommends the System User token for server sync, and the token is stored encrypted. It is never handled in chat.

  4. Open Edit on the connected account. Set the currency and a daily and a monthly ad-spend cap.

Do not skip step 4. Before NIA files any Meta change that commits money, she checks the cap: the daily budget must fit within what is left today, and the same amount for every day left this month must fit within the monthly cap. With no cap set, she refuses and asks an admin to set one.

How do you check NIA can see the right data?

Before you ask her to change anything, test her reading:

  • On the Advertising screen, ask "How did the last 14 days go?" or "Show me spend by day". She answers from the stored data and can draw a chart. Compare one figure with Google Ads itself.

  • Open Insights for an overview of spend against return and cost per conversion, and dashboards for campaigns, search terms and trends.

  • In the Marketing room, type @ and pick NIA, then ask what the Meta account holds: each campaign, its status and budget, and how much of the cap is left today and this month.

If the numbers disagree, run a fresh sync before going further. Room answers are capped at 20 rows, so ask for the top campaigns rather than everything.

How do you run the first optimisation on Google Ads?

  1. Open Agent optimise on the Google Ads surface.

  2. Choose a window. Use at least two weeks on a small account, so there is enough data to judge.

  3. Run the diagnosis. NIA first checks the metric window is fresh and well covered, because stale or sparse data produces confident but wrong recommendations.

  4. Read each proposal. A keyword pause must clear a wasted-spend floor and a click floor before she proposes it, and every fix is validated as a dry run.

  5. Press Apply on the ones you agree with. Each one queues on Actions with what it does and a risk note.

  6. Approve or reject each on Actions. Nothing reaches Google until a person approves.

Findings with no safe action show as advice. Read those too; they often point at a landing page or tracking problem no bid change can fix.

How do you optimise Meta campaigns with NIA?

Meta work happens in the Marketing room, by asking. You can ask NIA to:

  • report how campaigns did over the last 1 to 30 days, against the days before;

  • sync the latest figures from Meta;

  • pause a campaign or lower its daily budget;

  • resume a paused campaign or raise its daily budget;

  • create a new campaign with a name, an objective and, if you want, a campaign daily budget.

Pausing and lowering only reduce spend, but each still waits for an approval, and she reads the campaign back before saying it is done. Resuming, raising and creating commit money, so each is a card a named approver clicks every time. When it is approved she syncs again, refuses if the campaign changed since the card was filed, and checks the cap again before anything is sent to Meta.

How do you build a new campaign?

On Google Ads, use Build with agent on the Campaigns tab:

  1. Fill in the brief: campaign name, objective, budget, locations, landing page, terms you never want to bid on, and phrases that must appear.

  2. NIA drafts the plan. She can draft Search, Shopping, Display, Video and Performance Max campaigns.

  3. A chain of fixed checks decides whether the plan may go further: budget ceiling and pace, structure, copy safety, conversion tracking and duplicates.

  4. If it passes, press Build, which queues an approval.

  5. Approve it on Actions. The campaign is created in Google Ads as one set of operations, so a failure creates nothing, and it arrives paused.

  6. Enable it when you are ready.

On Meta, NIA creates an empty campaign, paused. Add its ad sets, audiences, ads and creative in Ads Manager, then ask her to resume it, which needs its own approval.

How do approvals work, and what should you watch for?

  • Queued changes appear on Actions with what each does and its risk note. They do not appear in the Inbox yet.

  • NIA starts at L2 Assist, below the level her live actions need, so all 24 queue. Installing the Marketing team cannot seat her higher.

  • Changes asked for from a room queue for approval whatever level she is set to.

  • Approve deliberately: for an hour after you approve one of NIA's actions, the same kind of action fired by you runs without asking again. Resuming, raising or creating a Meta campaign are exceptions and always wait for their own approval.

The full rules for who can raise an agent's level are in autonomy and governance.

What does a good first week look like?

  • Day 1: connect both accounts, set the Meta cap, sync, check three numbers against the platforms.

  • Day 2: run a 14 or 30 day diagnosis on Google Ads. Approve only proposals you can explain.

  • Day 3: ask NIA in the room how each Meta campaign did against the prior period.

  • Day 5: review what changed. Each change that lands is recorded with the day it landed, so its effect can be set against the window before it.

  • Day 7: decide your weekly review slot and who approves.

How does this compare with setting up other tools?

Each was checked on the vendor's own site on 24 October 2026.

  • Optmyzr: connect accounts on a 14-day free trial with no card; you then pick audits, alerts and rules (Optmyzr pricing). Its homepage states "No changes without your approval, ever" (Optmyzr).

  • Madgicx: a 7-day free trial; AI Marketer audits the Meta account and prepares actions you launch (Madgicx).

  • Birch (formerly Revealbot): a 14-day trial; you build rules or ask Birch AI to draft one. When the trial ends, rules and reports are disabled until you pick a plan (Birch pricing).

  • Albert.ai and Smartly: onboarding runs through their sales and success teams (Albert FAQ, Smartly).

NIA's setup is closer to hiring a teammate: you connect the accounts once, then ask, review and approve in the same workspace as the rest of your team.

What will NIA not do after setup?

  • On Meta she works at campaign level only. A campaign whose budget sits on its ad sets can be paused but not resumed or re-budgeted from the room.

  • She does not build ad sets, audiences, ads or creative on Meta.

  • She does not install conversion tracking or a pixel.

  • She does not spend without approval, and every campaign she creates arrives paused.

  • She works Google Ads, Meta ads (Beta) and ChatGPT ads (Beta) today, not other ad networks.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I set up an AI agent to optimise Meta ads campaigns automatically?

Connect the ad account with OAuth or a System User token, set a hard daily and monthly spend cap, and decide who approves money-committing changes. With NIA, pausing and lowering budgets still need an approval, and resuming, raising or creating need a named approver every time.

Why does NIA refuse to raise a Meta budget?

Usually because no spend cap is set on the ad account, or the new budget would not fit what is left of the daily or monthly cap. Set or raise the cap on the Meta Ads page, then ask again.

Does NIA need conversion tracking to work?

She can read and diagnose without it, but on Google Ads she will not build a leads or sales campaign without an enabled conversion action, and her recommendations are only as good as the conversions she can see.

Can NIA create ad sets or ads on Meta?

No. She creates an empty, paused campaign. Ad sets, audiences, ads and creative are made in Ads Manager.

Is Nagent NIA worth it for a company running Google Ads without a specialist?

NIA is worth it if you run Google Ads with no specialist but someone can give 30 minutes a week to approving her proposals, and you want campaigns built from a brief behind fixed checks. It is not worth it if you want hands-off autonomy, or only need a cheap rules tool.
